Massive Win in Wisconsin!

In case you missed it—reproductive freedom just scored a massive win in Wisconsin.

Yesterday, April 1, Liberal Judge Susan Crawford was elected to the Wisconsin Supreme Court, defeating anti-abortion conservative Brad Schimel. This wasn’t just any race—it was the most expensive judicial election in U.S. history, with nearly $100 million spent.

And we won! By a massive 55% to 45%!!!!!

This win keeps the court’s 4-3 liberal majority intact, which is a huge deal for reproductive rights, voting access, and so many other freedoms under attack.

The Billionaires Tried—And Failed

One of the wildest parts of this race? Elon Musk personally dumped over $25 million into trying to elect Schimel, hoping to flip the court conservative and open the door to more abortion bans and rollbacks of basic rights.

But Wisconsin voters showed up and sent a clear message: billionaires don’t get to buy our courts or our freedoms.

Why This Win Matters

With Crawford on the bench, Wisconsin’s Supreme Court is positioned to hear cases that could dismantle the state’s outdated 1849 abortion ban and protect reproductive healthcare access. This isn’t just a Wisconsin issue—state courts everywhere are becoming the front lines in the fight for abortion rights.

This victory shows what’s possible when we organize, pay attention to judicial races, and vote like our rights depend on it—because they do.

What’s Next

Crawford’s win locks in a progressive majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court until at least 2028. That means real, long-term impact on abortion access, voting rights, union protections, and more.

At Take Back Trust, we’ll keep watching and reporting on how this court shapes reproductive healthcare in Wisconsin—and what it means for the rest of the country. Because when one state protects freedom, it strengthens the fight for all of us.

Bottom line: Billionaires may have the money, but we’ve got the people—and when we show up, we win.
